  :the union was all of the northern states. the northern states were california, organ, new york, pennsilvania, west virgina, kansas, massachussets, rhode island,delaware, vermont,new hamphire, maine, michigan, ohio, iowa, minisota illionois, new jersey.

: the north thought that the south was being cruel by owning slaves.

: The north did not need slaves because the used factories instead of farms.
